My first photography journey to New York City was a rewarding one. New York City has to much to offer to photographers, architecture, streets, landscape, just to name a few. I want to share my experience so my fellow photographer friends can maximize their stay in NYC.
Grand Central Terminal
A must visit in New York City. The Terminal structure is both impressive and expansive. The packed travellers through the Terminal make the view nothing I have seen before. An opportunity to take long exposure pictures, however, you will need your tripod but the guards won’t allow it unless you have a permit. The good news is that you can apply for a photographer permit by contacting (212) 340-4825 or via e-mail at mconti@mnr.org. Be sure to give at least one week notice. Trust me, I’ve learned the hard way.
Location: 89 E. and 42nd Street

Night City View
Between Empire State Building and Rockefeller, the latter is the better choice of the two for night city view. Be sure to check out Top of the Rock at Rockefeller, which gives you access to the top 3 levels of observation decks for a breathtaking view. In order to shoot night scenes, you will certainly need your tripod again. The security checks will not stop you from bringing your tripods, but the guards on observation decks will give you warning not to expand the tripods. They will allow it if you tell them you are using it as a monopod.

Woolworth Building
If there was a regret in my trip to New York City, it was not be able to photograph the interior of Woolworth Building. Its lobby is considered one of the best interiors in all of Manhattan. I had the chance to going into the building and got a quick sneak of the wonder, but I was quickly approached by their security before I could take any pictures. I have learned from their security that a tour could be arranged to visit and photograph the interior of the building, unfortunately it was my last day in NYC so I didn’t have a chance to book it. Be sure to call and book your tour ahead of the time. 203-966-9663 or via website https://woolworthtours.com.
